1 Mar 2012

I suspect most of you don't care, but I made a pretty big decision today.

I have never mentioned it directly on this blog, but I have been an officer in the United States Air Force for the last five years.  I have enjoyed the people, the jobs, and the military's role in my maturation.  Although I do have a bit more of a Ron Paul view of our foreign policy, I recognize that military serves an unfortunately necessary role in the current world.

I understand the anarchist viewpoint that because a person trusts themselves to do the right thing that they can extend that trust to everyone else.  Having been robbed several times, I have lost some of my trust of fellow man that I will try to regain.  Trust might be the only way the world can know peace.

To the trustworthy men and women of America who have paid taxes to support the ideas this country holds dear, I say thank you.  To the hardworking libertarian types who don't want to pay taxes to support problems you see in the current state of affairs, I understand and say thank you for supplying consumer goods, inventions and services that make life better for each of us.  More directly, thank you to those who have showed both fiscal support and moral support to me and fellow military members.  Although it may shock you, a lot of the Air Force members are a lot more enlightened and possess more common sense about worldly affairs than what I have run into outside of the military.  I only say that to maybe try easing some of the fear "internet people" have over NDAA (which is a dangerous precedent) or a military police state.

Thank you isn't enough.  I appreciate the experience and opportunities the American people have given me.  However, it is time to move on.  I decided to separate from the military today to find more challenging experiences.  I have frequently been told to stay and do my "twenty" to get the retirement.  I have chosen freedom over security.  I  need to make a new path.

As you might have guessed, I'd like to work in the securities industry, but am currently open to anything, anywhere that sounds challenging and rewards labor.  Mining and energy are appealing too.  Please provide advice or anything else you would like to tell me in the comments section.

And what you really came for:
Can it make it to previous highs?
Medium term has been deteriorating quite quickly.
Short term is neither overbought nor oversold.

"Don’t you know, there are some things that can beat smartness and foresight? Awkwardness and stupidity can. The best swordsman in the world doesn’t need to fear the second best swordsman in the world; no, the person for him to be afraid of is some ignorant antagonist who has never had a sword in his hand before; he doesn’t do the thing he ought to."

  1. Im Canadian, so Im not sure if this is someone looking from the outside in or someone who doesnt understand the american culture. As I see it though, whatever your four fathers and other presidents have made and declared for its american citizen has been abused by the recent and current govt.. Money, Power, and thier peers respect. NDAA in my views are a way to prevent any uprising of the sorts happening in the middle east and in europe. The gov't has had its taste it in the Occupy movement however minimal but let the fire burn it will spread like wild fire. That is what I beleive is the cause for this bill.

As for you proffession. Some need to give up security to persue their goals in this short life and its not easy to do. I know first hand. We are blessed to be in this financial industry, and although we are not in the heart of things, we may know more than the people inside hence (looking from the outside in). We learn because we want what fullfilment and satisfaction. They feel they already have it, and if they dont, they can rely on insider information. We dont have that luxury so we must do the hard work and look at our analysis day in and day out. If we play it right, we can be that 5% that succeed and not the 95% that fail. pretty damning odds if you ask me.

I like to keep it simple, and believe that in order to see where you are going you have to see what you are riding and how far that can get you. If that is not feasible you must find another way. The market is like that. These vehicles are called time frames.

Monthly, weekly, daily, 60min... and if you like to day trade use the smaller time frames. Im am sure you are experienced in this, but just sharing my knowledge. If you would like to try my system it is very easy. Use the monthly Stoch. as your major top and bottom by its crosses and its entry and exit from overbought and oversold territory. Trading with the trend is not old advice, its a wise advise. Dont believe me look at the major highs and major bottoms for the last 20 years. On a monthly scale you will see that either the SToch. crosses down or a confirmation of an exit from overbought or oversell confirms the trend change.

Now switch to the weekly and view the same. Now that you know your monthly trend down or up.. view the trend that is more volatile or has a bigger movement. Usually it will be with the monthly trend. Do it with the Daily and you will again find that the strongest trend will be with the weekly trend. Small corrections will catch the players off guard because they dont really know the trend that dictates its time frame. Most people think have been calling for a major crash, and maybe it will come but not until the Monthly stochastics turn and exits its overbought situation.

Sorry for taking your time. JMHO. Good Luck on your new venture.

  2. Hi Scott: It is always the easiest thing to stick with security, and it works for most people. But we have to be true to ourselves, as cliched as that sounds. We can't make ourselves into someone else. Thank you for sharing your life decision. My stepfather was AF career, 30+ years, it was all he wanted to do so it was the right path for him. Keep us posted on where your path leads next.
